Web Design is often just taken to mean the design of the graphical look and feel of a website, although the term also sometimes encompasses the act of building a website - normally a brochure type of website containing pages such as a home page, an about us page, pictures and descriptions of products and services.

Web Development, on the other hand, normally means that some type of interactive functionality should be developed so that a visitor can interact with the website in some way - this can range from booking systems to shopping carts or online dating systems.
